The recent heat wave is a reminder that climate change is here, and it will get far worse if we don’t begin to address it now.

I studied climate change in graduate school and I’ve worked on it in my professional career. One thing that has become clear to me is that we need to address it at all levels of government, including the local level.

San Luis Obispo needs a mayor who is knowledgeable and willing to speak up. Jan Marx has shown true leadership around addressing climate change. She also understands that renewable energy and energy efficiency can be part of the solution as well as an avenue for economic development.

Check out her website to see what she says about climate change as well as a host of local issues that the next mayor will be facing. I haven’t seen any other candidates show the depth of experience and outline the issues facing San Luis Obispo as well as Jan Marx.
